733: racing class

Serpent started this exciting racing category, many years back with the Serpent Impulse 1/10 200mm car.   As 1/8 scale racing was getting too tough or expensive for many, we decided to create a new class of racing.

By now it has developed into a full scale racing class, which is one of the biggest in the onroad market.  Performance levels of both engines and chassis have increased a lot, and this makes this class highly competitive and great to race in.

To cope with the growing amounts of horsepower and to translate that to superb grip on the tarmac, we decided to start the Serpent 1/10 chassis  design from scratch, based on the knowledge and experience from the past years.  The main project tasks consisted of:  highest performance level, combined with easy to work on, very accessable for maintenance, more durable, innovative and with a very attractive design…… the works.

Below a list of main new features and some 3D pictures to explain them.

• -   3mm chassis plate 7075 T6  with closed type design, combined with U-shaped motormount which can remain on the engine. This mount, then goes on top of the new alu chassis stiffner. Perfectly positioned. This stiffner has arms to the front and back to influence flex, depending with how many chassis-screws its fastened.
• -   new low 75cc fueltank  with AFL-cap more to the front and mounting-position  for AMB transponder on the bottom
• -   carbon fibre radioplate assembly unit contains fuel-tank, belt-tensioner, both servo’s, receiverbox, battery/holder (accepts normal and Lipo-pack), transponder-holder all as one easy to take out sub-assembly.  Ideal for easy cleaning and access.  All wiring very short and compact to mount.  Nice straight servo-linking to brake and throttle levers.
